Perceived stress and learning environment among nursing students: A cross-sectional study

BackgroundA negative learning environment is associated with the development of stress among nursing students.AimTo examine and students.MethodsA convenience sample 340 students from a School Nursing, Sri Lanka, participated. A sociodemographic questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10) Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) were used. In data analysis, descriptive statistics, Spearman's correlation test, Mann–Whitney U test Kruskal–Wallis H used.FindingsThe majority female (91.5%). The mean scores PSS-10 DREEM 20.09 ± 5.33 133.04 12.97, respectively. moderately stressed (78.50%) rated as “more positive than negative” (92.4%). held highest lowest perceptions towards domain “academic self-perception” (Mean 22.44 2.93; 70.13% maximum score) “atmosphere” 29.80 4.85; 62.08% score), There was significant association between (r = −0.111, p < 0.05). Reason for selecting career choice showed to influence perception (H 23.278, <0.001) 9.304, 0.026).
